Boots
By Courtney Luke
Recently, our family celebrated 90 years of life of one of our oldest relatives.
My mother's uncle has lived a life of adventure.
He spent a portion of World War II serving in the South Pacific in the Solomon Islands. As many of that generation, he doesn't consider what he did any great sacrifice.
He is also the son of a minister- one who spent many years planting churches and preaching at evangelistic revivals. His ministry caused the family to move frequently and the kids learned to make friends easily.
Their musical skills also developed in those early years of travel. The family harmony has been a source of entertainment for following generations. Though they don't always consider themselves to be good singers, they certainly admit that they are loud.
At this dear uncle's birthday party, his boots were used as table center pieces.
Throughout the decades, those boots have seen and done many things.
