Parishes of some Church bodies have been vandalized during these evil days because of their love of God and humans created in His image. Pro-abortion protestors have spray painted threatening, obscene messages on their doors, broken into their sanctuaries, desecrating their chancels and altars. We learn this from news sources that are not openly hostile to Christianity. Important theological disagreements likely exist between their Church bodies and the one I serve, but we are united with them in that life-affirming cause. Persecutions of Christians are on the rise here in America but have not nearly reached the fervent pitch as it has been for centuries in the Middle East, and for decades in totalitarian nations such as China, North Korea, and in some regions of northern and western Africa. Christians who are paying attention suspect that American secular fundamentalist media groups are preparing Americans for persecution of Christians here, using their old stand-by tactic of false accusations. They dismiss martyred Christians as dangerous zealots who died for self-serving attention and will accuse martyrs of committing suicide by choosing to remain faithful to Christ.
