New committee formed to address local healthcare issues

An emergency meeting of the City of Kennett City Council was held on Sunday, October 13, 2019 to address the issue of inadequate health care facilities in the city since the closing of Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center Hospital in June of 2018. After much discussion of the current situation and potential remedies, Mayor Chancellor Wayne appointed a committee comprised of health care professionals, government representatives and local business representatives to explore all feasible solutions, including repurposing the existing facilities or new construction in a different location. The committee is to report to the City Council by its first meeting in November.
