Kennett Police Reports

August 16, 2018

At approximately 5:07 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of North Walnut in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers learned that the incident was verbal argument only between a mother and a daughter. Neither party involved wished to pursue charges and one agreed to leave the residence.

August 17, 2018

At approximately 9:46 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Days Inn hotel on Independence Avenue in reference to property damage. Upon arrival, officers were directed to a room where it was apparent that someone had broken the window from the outside in an apparent attempt to get inside. At the time of this report, there are no suspects, and the incident remains under investigation.

At approximately 11:32 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Family Dollar Store located on First Street in reference to a shoplifter. Upon arrival, and after subsequent investigation, officers arrested 22 year old Anastasia Johnson of Kennett for shoplifting. Johnson was later released on a Kennett Municipal Court summons pending her court date.

At approximately 5:09 p.m., officers were dispatched to Walmart on First Street in reference to a shoplifter. Upon arrival, and after subsequent investigation, officers arrested 33 year old Pierson Finley of Kennett for shoplifting. Finley was later released on a Kennett Municipal Court summons pending his court date.

At approximately 7:29 p.m., officers were dispatched to Walmart on First Street in reference to a shoplifter. Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspects had left the store. At the time of this report, the suspects were not located and the incident remains under investigation.

At approximately 7:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to Electric Street near Devin Place in reference to a child being unattended. Upon arrival, officers located the child who was alone. The child was transported to the police department where the Missouri Division of Children’s Services and the Dunklin County Juvenile Office were contacted. Through further investigation, officers were able to identify the child and locate the residence where they child was supposed to have been staying. At this time, the child was released to a friend of the family. A report was completed and forwarded to the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office for the filing of formal charges against a subject who was supposed to be babysitting the child.

At approximately 8:34 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of North Vandeventer Street in reference to an unwanted guest. Upon arrival, officers located the subject who was later detained however later released to be mentally evaluated. While being transported, the subject began assaulting the EMS personnel. At that point, officers arrested 60 year old Sharon Motschiedler of Kennett for Assault 3rd Degree (Special Victim) and Trespassing. Motschiedler was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center pending the filing of formal charges by the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office.

At approximately 10:45 p.m., officers arrested 28 year old Jeremy Jefferson of Kennett on an active state of Missouri warrant issued out of Dunklin County. Jefferson was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center on the warrant only.

August 18, 2018

At approximately 10:26 a.m., officers arrested 37 year old Francisco Villa on an active Kennett Municipal warrant. Villa was later released with a new court date after posting bond.

At approximately 12:08 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Kennett Police Department in reference to fraud. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim had noticed discrepancies in their banking information during which they also learned that their debit card had been used at several locations in Kennett. At the time of this report, there are no suspects, and the incident remains under investigation.

At approximately 7:49 p.m., officers to the area of Astrachan Court in reference to a suspicious subject. Upon arrival, officers located and subsequently arrested 36 year old Davis Smith of Kennett on an active Kennett Municipal warrant. During the arrest, officers located an undisclosed amount of marijuana on Smiths person. Smith was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center on the warrant only after being issued a Kennett Municipal Court summons for Possession of Marijuana.
