August 4, 2018

At approximately 2:24 a.m., officers were dispatched to the E. Commercial Street area in reference to a male and female prowling around yards. Upon arrival, officers located the two individuals. Officers subsequently located and undisclosed amount of methamphetamine. Officers subsequently arrested 29 year old Christopher Smith of Kennett for Possession of a Controlled Substance. Smith was also arrested on an active state of Missouri warrant. Smith was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center on the warrant and pending the filing of formal charges by the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office.

At approximately 1:27 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Walmart parking lot in reference to a male urinating in the parking lot. Upon arrival and after subsequent investigation, officers arrested 69 year old James Cates of Senath for Indecent/Lewd Act. Cates was later released on a Kennett Municipal Court summons pending his court date.

At approximately 1:29 p.m., officers made contact with a male riding a bicycle near the intersection of Slicer and Seventh streets. During the encounter, officers subsequently located an undisclosed amount of methamphetamine and narcotic related paraphernalia in the male’s possession. Officers subsequently arrested 38 year old Johnathan Conley of Kennett for Possession of a Controlled Substance. Conley was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center pending the filing of formal charges by the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office.

At approximately 3:39 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of S. Main Street in reference to a burglary. Upon arrival, officers learned that someone had unlawfully entered the residence and stole items. At the time of this report, there are no suspects and the incident is still under investigation.

August 5, 2018

At approximately 1:15 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on First Street near Depot Street. During the stop, officers subsequently arrested 21 year old Braxton Cross of Blytheville, Ark., on an active state of Missouri warrant issued out of Pemiscot County. Cross was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center on the warrant only.

At approximately 9:02 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 84 West Motel in reference to a deceased person. Upon arrival, officers located the individual, noted that the subject was in fact deceased, and contacted Dunklin County Coroner James Powell. At this time, the exact cause of death is unclear however, no foul play is suspected.

At approximately 10:24 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1300 block of E. Dunklin Street in reference to the caller finding blood on his vehicle. Upon arrival, officers noted what did appear to be blood on the reporting parties vehicle as well as in the driveway. At the time of this report, it is unclear who the blood belongs to or how it got there. This incident is still under investigation.

At approximately 1:33 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 900 block of Riggs Street in reference to a shed being broken into. Upon arrival, officers learned that someone had forcefully entered the victims shed, which was damaged in the process, however it was unclear if anything was missing. At the time of this report, there are no suspects and this incident is still under investigation.

At approximately 2:55 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Jackson and Washington Streets. During the stop, officers located a large amount of substance consistent in appearance with crack cocaine, and a large amount of substance consistent in appearance with THC wax. Neither of these substances tested positive for illegal narcotics however due to their appearance and packaging, officers subsequently arrested 25 year old Uzzi Caruthers of Kennett for Attempted Delivery or Manufacture of Imitation Controlled Substance. Caruthers was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center pending the filing of formal charges by the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office.

At approximately 4:47 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of Slicer Street in reference to a burglary. Upon arrival, officers learned that someone had forcibly entered the victims shed and stole several items. At the time of this report, there are no suspects and this incident is still under investigation.

At approximately 5:36 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of Maple Street in reference to a vehicle being damaged. Upon arrival, officers learned that the tires on a vehicle had been punctured. At the time of this report, officers were still awaiting to speak with the owners of the vehicle.

August 6, 2018

At approximately 2:26 a.m., officers were dispatched to an address in the 200 block of S. Main Street in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, officers learned that a 17 year old male had came home intoxicated and was creating the disturbance with his parent. As officers attempted to arrest the male he became combative and began resisting. After a brief struggle, officers subsequently arrested 17 year old Bobby Winchester of Kennett for Domestic Assault, Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Minor in Possession of Alcohol, Resisting Arrest, and Failure to Obey a Lawful Order. Winchester was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center pending the filing of formal charges by the Kennett Municipal Prosecutor’s office.

At approximately 4:38 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 900 block of Floyd Street in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim had given money to a family member to go get a money order for them. While enroute back to the residence, a male who was riding with the family member stole the money order and fled. At the time of this report, the male has not been located and the incident is still under investigation.

At approximately 5:10 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Jackson and Beaton streets in reference to a suspicious male walking in the area with a backpack full of synthetic marijuana. Upon arrival, officers located and made contact with the male. During the encounter, the male began resisting. Officers were able to quickly subdue and secure the male without incident. Officers located a large amount of synthetic marijuana in separate packages inside of his back pack. Officers subsequently arrested 21 year old Cedric Hunter of Sardis, Miss., for Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Distribute and Resisting Arrest. Hunter was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center pending the filing of formal charges by the Dunklin County Prosecutor’s office.

At approximately 5:10 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 800 block of S. Anthony Street in reference to a burglary. Upon arrival, officers learned that someone had unlawfully and forcefully entered the victims residence and shed while they were away and stole several items. At the time of this report, there are no suspects and the incident is still under investigation.

At approximately 9:27 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Park and Ninth streets. During the stop, officers subsequently arrested 36 year old Carla Jones of Kennett on a Kennett Municipal warrant. Jones was held in the Dunklin County Justice Center on the warrant only.

August 7, 2018

At approximately 3:38 a.m., officers were flagged down near the intersection of Washington and Vandeventer streets. Officers learned that a window had been broken out of a vehicle while it was in operation in the 400 block of Beaton Street. At the time of this report, there are no suspects, and the incident is still under investigation.

At approximately 10:41 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Dunklin County Justice Center in reference to harassment. Upon arrival, officers spoke with an individual who indicated that they had been harassed and wished to sign a complaint. Officers later located and arrested 23 year old Ashley Kent of Kennett for Harassment. Kent was later released on a Kennett Municipal Court summons pending her court date.

At approximately 11:55 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1100 block of Riggs Street in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, officers learned that someone had taken currency out of the victims lock box. At the time of this report, there are two possible suspects however neither have been located. This incident is still under investigation.

At approximately 4:22 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of Electric Street in reference to a theft. Upon arrival, officers learned that a male subject had reportedly stolen the victims credit card while at a business. At the time of this report, the male has not been located or identified. This incident is still under investigation.

At approximately 8:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 2000 block of Bradley Street in reference to a fight in progress. Upon arrival, and after subsequent investigation, officers arrested 18 year old Dakota Moppin and 22 year old Trezarinty Sanders both of Kennett and both for Domestic Assault. Both Moppin and Sanders were later released on a Kennett Municipal Court summons pending their court date.

At approximately 9:47 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 700 block of Oaklawn Circle in reference to damage to a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers learned that a vehicle tire had been punctured. As suspect was identified and due to the suspect being a juvenile, a report was completed and forwarded to the Dunklin County Juvenile office for the filing of formal charges.
