One theologian recently reminded his readers that most false religions follow the same pattern: Someone has allegedly seen his god in some sort of supernatural way. The man immediately sets up an altar, calls the place "holy", and in the years to follow, people bring sacrifices to this altar in hopes their sacrifices would prompt their god to grant them favors or appear or speak to them.
