City of Kennett awarded grant for 'pedestrian traffic'

The City of Kennett has been awarded a Federal Highway grant in the amount of $453,000 from the Missouri Department of Transportation (MODot). According to Randy Carter, street commissioner, the funding from the grant will be used to improve the movement of pedestrian traffic within the city. The areas that the city will first concentrate on includes First Street, Electric Street, Russell Street and First Street to the North By-Pass. The city will be looking into obtaining the right of way to railroad property at a later date.
