It's the standard

Saturday, February 11, 2023

This week I performed for the Wednesday Music Club.

What a great afternoon.

I paid tribute to the classic Vegas entertainers, such as Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett, among others.

I sang the songs from the American Song Book.

The standards.

We laughed and reminisced together.

Those songs brought back many fond memories.

They’re classics and I hope they never go away.

Music brings people together.

It’s the standard.

Also this week, Mayor Chancellor Wayne, and his wife, Melissa, presented to the Rotary Club of Kennett.

They shared details on their church, Ely Baptist’s, missionary trip to Africa.

These folks helped build a well to bring fresh water to a local children’s ministry campus, brought bibles, and assisted with curriculum materials for their school.

Good Kennett people spreading goodwill to impoverished people across an ocean.

That’s what we do here.

That’s what we do in communities throughout the county.

It’s the standard.

Wrapping up the week was an extremely well attended City Council meeting.

The trash debate spurred much debate and a very crowded city hall.

It proves the power of the people and how we rally when we have a common cause.

Whether it’s a single provider city trash debate, a plea for a hospital, or supporting a local business owner who lost his precious family in a fire, we show up.

It’s what we do.

It’s the standard.

Even when we’re plagued with scandal, loss, and other dire situations, we rise above.

We always have.

It’s just what we do.

It’s the standard.

See you out there.
