Happy Holidays

Saturday, December 31, 2022

Do you have favorite holidays?

I guess mine would be Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Valentine’s Day, although Halloween is right up there too.

I feel a little guilty not saying Easter, after all, it celebrates our savior’s resurrection.

I was wondering who else we should honor with a holiday.

I enjoy the writings of Thomas Jefferson, for instance, “Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil: in its worst state, an intolerable one.”

Should Jefferson have a holiday?

There are a lot of great men and women who may deserve this distinction.

Neil Armstrong.

He literally landed on the Moon.

The Wright Brothers.

We could get two days off.

Shakespeare.

In my opinion we don’t honor writers enough.

Speaking of Shakespeare, how about the Bard of Country Music, Hank Williams.

I’d vote for that.

I’ve always been fond of Ben Franklin. After all, he’s on money, so give him a holiday.

Perhaps a Disney Day. We could all stay home and watch our favorite Disney Classics.

The original Jungle Book for me.

It can get kind of controversial when we start making our list.

I guess that’s why I like my favorites.

One honors all our blessings, one honors the Son of God who did the blessing, and one honors love, which is a universal blessing.

Happy New Year to you all.

See you out there.
