LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Saturday, November 27, 2021

Dear Editor:

Kennett lost one of its finest citizens with the passing of Gerald Gamble and I have lost my own dearest friend of over seven decades of mutual friendship and admiration.

Gerry was a faithful servant of Kennett serving on our city Council, as Mayor Pro-Tem and Chairman of our Board of Public Works where he served so diligently for over 23 years overseeing so many of the civic improvements that we enjoy today.

I owe any political success that I may have achieved to Gerry who first induced me to run for the City Council and later for Mayor. He was a constant source of great support to me all throughout my service. As just one measure of his devotion, he declined to seek re-election to the City Council upon my election as Mayor for fear that some disagreement on civic policy might impair our friendship. His wise counsel was invaluable to me all throughout my years of service.

He leaves a legacy of the highest ideals of public service to our Community - to his Church and to his very fine family and to his loving wife, Sue, who stood by him and constantly comforted him all throughout these difficult days.

I will miss him all in of the remaining days that the Lord has granted me.

“A Faithful Friend is a strong defense and he he who has found such a one has found a Treasure! “We do not lose the ones we love - God takes them in his care”
