Memories of the Fair

Saturday, September 25, 2021

The Delta Fair is returning and I couldn’t be more excited.

After missing out on the fair last year due to the pandemic, this fair week is anticipated to be one of the most attended ever.

I love the fair.

The sights, the sounds, and the smells.

The fair always brings back such wonderful memories.

It was family time.

The entire family. Grandparents, cousins, we were all there.

We’d walk the midway together and take it all in.

The rides.

I never was a daredevil for most of the rides. The Tilt-a-Whirl was the ride of choice for me.

I remember at the larger amusement parks, such as Six Flags, my friends and family would try to entice me to get on the roller coasters.

At Disney World they would plead with me to ride Space Mountain. It’s just a roller coaster in the dark, they’d say.

All roller coasters are in the dark for me. I never open my eyes.

The wonderful fair food. How is it you can go to the fair and see people in the food court that you haven’t seen all year?

It’s magical.

Let’s all get out to the fair and enjoy the exhibits, listen to the bands, and visit with friends from all over the area.

Make some memories.

I know I will.

If I stand still, close my eyes, and listen closely, I can see my relatives who have passed on, smiling and waving at me as that little boy on the Tilt-a-Whirl.

See you out there.
