I like weddings.

I enjoy everything about them.

Watching the new couple take their vows, visiting with friends and family at the reception, and of course, the wedding cake.

Everyone wishes the newlyweds good luck.

I guess that’s why there are so many traditions connected with weddings.

Here’s a few you might find interesting.

English tradition says that Wednesday is the best day to marry. Monday is for wealth and Tuesday is for health.

Interesting.

The groom carries his newly betrothed across the threshold to protect her from evil spirits.

I did that with my first wife and evil spirits invaded that union fairly quickly.

Hindu tradition says rain on your wedding day is good luck.

I don’t buy that one.

For good luck, Egyptian women are known to pinch the bride on her wedding day.

Not gonna happen in this politically correct culture.

I’ll just shake hands.

Wedding and engagement rings are worn on the fourth finger of the left hand because it was long believed a vein ran from that finger directly to the heart.

Some say it’s to the pocketbook.

I poke fun, but I actually do enjoy weddings.

I believe in marriage.

Having said that, I would like to share with you my favorite acronym concerning couples.

Relationship.

R-e-l-a-t-i-o-n-s-h-i-p

Really exciting love affair.

Turns into outrageous nightmare.

Sanity hangs in peril.

Amen.

See you out there.
