Come together

Saturday, May 23, 2020

Bringing a hospital back to the area has, for the moment, surpassed COVID-19 as the local top news story.

That’s a blessing in itself.

There are also two groups engaged in this effort.

They are the Billionaires Funding Group and the Healthcare Task Force, with advisor/consultant Steve Clapp.

In the coming weeks the DDD will feature articles informing on the progress of both entities.

Next week will bring an interview with Clapp as well as local physicians voicing their opinions on the hospital ventures.

I encourage both camps to do this one thing.

Communicate, communicate, communicate.

Share with the community where things stand now.

Share what’s coming next.

When people don’t hear anything the rumor mill starts and usually everyone expects the worse.

I urge transparency.

Get vital information out to the community.

Remember, this will take time.

All involved, including our citizens, need to continue to show resilience.

As we move through this process let’s remember to celebrate the small wins as well as the fact that there are ongoing efforts to bring a hospital back to Kennett.

Now is the time to come together.

A Henry Ford quote that applies reads, “If everyone is moving forward together, then success takes care of itself.”

Again, I implore people to attend council meetings and get involved in your community.

The more informed you are, the better you’ll be able to make a decision on where you stand with these hospital projects.

Do your homework.

Remember the words of President Ronald Reagan, “Trust but verify.”

See you out there.
