To tell the truth

Saturday, August 17, 2019

Fibs.

Little white lies.

Are they dangerous?

I believe they can be.

Everyone lies at one time or another and we all lie for different reasons.

People may fear the consequences of their actions and so they lie to protect themselves or others involved.

Dangerous.

Extremely dangerous. Especially for those in power.

Presidents, school officials, ministers and local government leaders among others.

Lying can also become a habit. The more you do it, the more likely you are to continue doing it. It becomes an automatic response. Have you ever told a lie so many times that it becomes your truth?

Lies always come back to bite you.

They have no legs. They can’t hold up over time.

When friends, families, communities, discover the truth it can destroy relationships.

Dishonesty can also consume the liar with enormous guilt.

I’ve witnessed some half-truths being told this week. These little white lies can be a slippery slope.

Ideas, projects, and business deals that are based on lies have a habit of falling apart even though it may take some time.

I realize it’s not realistic that any of us can achieve complete honesty, but it’s certainly worth the effort.

See you out there.
