Mary Shelley’s famous book “Frankenstein” may be an unusual topic in this time of Advent, the brief, three-week season of preparation for Christmas. But one scene in the book reads almost prophetic—not something of God, but of Man. The situation is when the Creature faces his creator, Dr. Frankenstein, and is responding to the doctor’s inquiry as to why his creation has brutally killed his victims. “You created me,” is my paraphrased quote of the creature’s reply. Then, the creature explains why he did kill. He said that his creator had rejected him, with Dr. Frankenstein running out of the room in horror once the creature came to life.
