Council members urged to talk up sales tax proposal
Wednesday, September 21, 2016
The 1 cent sales tax measure that is on the November ballot was again front and center at the Kennett City Council meeting Tuesday night. Both Mayor Bob Hancock and Finance Committee Chairman Roger Wheeler talked about the need for the proposed sales tax earmarked for public safety. The council heard that the city faced a well over $100,000 budget shortfall this year because of weaker sales tax receipts. Hancock urged council members to talk up the tax proposal and announced that at least one town hall type meeting with citizens will be scheduled prior to the election.
