Turning old houses into something new

The Kennett City Council recently voted to rezone a piece of property on North Jackson from R-1, single family residential, to R-2 multi family residential. The house, at 710 N. Jackson, has been uninhabitable for some time. "It was evident there were people coming and staying here in the attic. The reason we boarded it up is to keep people out of it. It looked like to me that someone had been up in the attic -- maybe it was cold -- they started a fire to keep warm or cook a meal and started a fire. It didn't damage the house so bad we can't fix it," said local contractor Stan Morris.
