Reading awards were handed out to Kennett Middle School students on Tuesday morning. Three times a year, students are tested using the Scholastic Reading Inventory. It is a test that measures a students reading level. They measure their reading growth in a unit of measurement called lexiles. Expected growth for a sixth grade student from test 1 to test 3 is 70 lexiles. Seventh grade students are expected to grow by 70 lexiles and eighth grade students are expected to grow by 50 lexiles.
