Weather woes continue into a second week
Tuesday, February 24, 2015
The snow and ice may not be falling, but weather problems linger in the area. After being closed all last week, Kennett schools opened Monday, but there were still a number of school districts closed. There were some reports of roof damage around the city, and there were even more about leaky roofs. Water got into homes, in some cases as a result of ice dams, which form when snow melt flows down the side of a sloping roof, but then freezes into ice as the air becomes colder. The ice can back up drains and cause leaks through roofing material into ceilings, walls and insulation.
