Sensitive issues discussed at Kennett City Council meeting
The Kennett City Council discussed two sensitive issues during its first meeting of December Tuesday night at City Hall. A debate about the mayor's $6,000 annual salary turned into a discussion about whether or not a change of government was necessary in Kennett. Mayor Jake Crafton proposed eliminating the salary at the last meeting and putting the money toward either a city manager, if the city voters get a chance to decide that issue, or a city administrator. "I feel this is a small step to change the way we govern our city," said Crafton. "Whether it's by the manager style of government or by an administrator, one way or the other, just about everyone here has stated that this government is not operating effectively, and we need proper management."
