A Kennett banker is closing in on the number of signatures he needs to get a change of government question before voters next year. John Robertson, president of Southern Bank, has turned in to the City Clerk's office 807 signatures on a petition to change Kennett's form of government from mayor-council to council-manager. To get the measure on the ballot, the number of signatures of registered voters must total approximately 860, which is 25 percent of the voters in the last gubernatorial election. Robertson indicated that he hopes to collect between 1,100 and 1,200 signatures, because some who sign his petition might not be certified by the Dunklin County Clerk as a registered voter.
