Roberts always looks to the sky; thrills crowd at Kennett Air Show

One of the featured performers at the first annual Kennett Air Show on Saturday began looking to the sky as a boy. "From the time I was a small child in the cotton fields of Mississippi where I was born and raised, I longed for the daylight to come, so I could look up at the sky and see those first jet contrails and hear those first sonic booms. I imagined what it would be like to be up there," remembered Wayne Roberts of Grenada, Miss. "Dad was a sharecropper. It may as well have been a trip to the moon to consider it to be within my grasp."
