Petition drive continues

For several weeks, a Kennett businessman has been gathering signatures on a petition that calls for voters to decide whether or not to change the City's form of government. John Robertson, President of Southern Bank, is spearheading the drive to obtain the signatures of approximately 860 registered voters in the community. State law stipulates that, in initiatives such as this, the number of signatures must equal 25 percent of the number of city voters in the last gubernatorial election. Robertson said the work of getting the signatures continues. "I've just turned in about 170 signatures," he reported in an e-mail Monday.
