Five children, two adults seriously injured in crash

PEMISCOT COUNTY, Mo. ---- Seven people were seriously injured as a result of a single vehicle crash, that occurred on Interstate 55, Saturday.

According to Cpl. M.M. Jones with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at approximately 12:05 p.m., on Saturday, February 2, Jennifer L. Mallory 29, of Blytheville, Ark., was driving north in a 1998 Ford Explorer when the vehicle traveled off the road and overturned at the two mile marker.

Mallory along with adult passenger, 26-year-old Alberta D. Blackman, also of Blytheville were seriously injured, while wearing their seatbelts. The two adult women were taken to the Elvis Presley Trauma Center in Memphis. The five children in the vehicle, ages include; three years old, nine years old, six years old, eight years old, and an infant were also seriously injured and not reported to have been wearing safety restraints at the time of the crash. All five children, of Blytheville, were flown to the Lebonheur Hospital in Memphis.

The 1998 Ford Explorer was totaled and towed from the scene.
