MALDEN, Mo. -- A 19-year-old Kennett teen was pronounced dead following a two-vehicle crash near Malden on Saturday.
According to information provided by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, at approximately 4:10 a.m., an westbound 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse, driven by Racheal Dickens, 19, of Malden, pulled to the eastbound shoulder of the roadway. As an eastbound 1999 Ford Ranger, driven by Zachary Williams, 21, of Malden, approached Dickens' vehicle, she pulled into Williams' vehicle's path, hitting it head-on.
Dickens received serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center at Poplar Bluff, Mo.
Dickens' passenger, Brooke Koenig, of Kennett, was pronounced dead at 4:55 a.m., by Dunklin County Coroner James Powell.
Williams received moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
The accident marks the third fatality for MSHP Troop E for 2013.
