State-ranked Holcomb finishes perfect in Tri-County with 69-38 win against Clarkton

HOLCOMB, Mo. - The Holcomb Hornets varsity boys basketball program finished Tri-County Conference regular-season play perfect Friday night with a 69-38 conference win against Clarkton.

Clarkton led the game 19-17 after the first quarter before falling behind 36-30 by halftime. Holcomb won the third quarter by seven points before it outscored Clarkton 23-2 in the fourth period.

Jamie Massey led the Hornets' offense with 34 points. Dylan White paced Clarkton with nine points.

Holcomb finishes Tri-County Conference play 8-0 and will be the No. 1 seed in the Tri-County Conference Tournament, which will take place at Delta C-7 Feb. 4-8.

Clarkton returns to action Tuesday when it visits Delta C-7.

Holcomb (17-3) has won 13 straight games. It is ranked No. 4 in the latest Class 2 state poll.

State-ranked teams are set to collide when Holcomb returns to action Tuesday night when it plays at Bernie. Bernie defeated Advance 54-43 Friday night to win the SCAA Tournament and is ranked No. 8 in the latest Class 2 state rankings.

The season series between Bernie and Holcomb is tied 1-1.
