Kennett Lady Indians suffer 53-19 setback at Poplar Bluff

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. - The Kennett Lady Indians varsity girls basketball team suffered a lopsided 53-19 loss at Poplar Bluff Thursday night.

The Poplar Bluff Lady Mules scored the first seven points and went up 10-3 before Kennett closed to within four with 3:08 left in the opening quarter.

The Lady Mules scored eight straight then held Kennett without a field goal over the final 7:27 of the first half leading to a 16-1 run.

Kennett went the first 3:12 of the second half without scoring as Poplar Bluff's lead grew to 36.

The Indians turned the ball over 21 times and shot 7-for-30 from the field.

Kenna Hounihan paced Kennett's offense with six points. She was the only player to record multiple field goals for the Lady Indians.

Danielle Farmer hit three of her four 3-pointers in the first quarter on her way to a team-high 18 points for Poplar Bluff. The Lady Mules' Cassidy Harris scored all 10 of her points in the first half.

Kennett (10-8) can finish Bootheel Conference regular-season play perfect Monday night when it hosts South Pemiscot.
