Authorities investigating local burglaries

Thursday, January 24, 2013

Local authorities are looking for the communities help in solving two burglaries.

During the evening of Jan. 22, Kennett police were dispatched to the 200 block of South Main Street at around 9:30 p.m.

Officers discovered that an unknown person or persons entered the residence by breaking a window and once inside, took a PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, a Macbook Air laptop, and an Apple iPad.

A witness observed a young boy -- around the age of 9 and wearing a blue jacket -- in the driveway during the time of the theft dribbling an orange, yellow and blue basketball.

Officers have been unable to identify the boy at the time of this release, however, believe that he might have seen something related to the burglary and are asking for help in identifying him.

While Officers were investigating this incident, they were dispatched to the 300 block of West 5th Street for another reported burglary.

Upon arrival officers discovered the suspect or suspects also entered this home through a window and once inside stole a PlayStation 3 and assorted items of jewelry. A witness described seeing three subjects fleeing the area on foot dressed in dark clothing and wearing black hoodies.

Anyone with information related to these or other local crimes are asked to contact the Kennett Police Department at (573) 888-4622.
