Thelma Estelle Orick, 91, of Malden died Thursday, January 17, 2013, at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton, Ill. She was a retired seamstress and a member of Spoonerville Baptist Church in Malden.

Born September 22, 1921, in Nyota, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Roy C. and Frances Matilda (Staton) Swann. On October 6, 1937, in Kennett, she was untied in marriage to Glen Harrison Orick, who preceded her in death on November 25, 1983.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Elmer Orick and David "Bo" Orick and five brothers, Orbin Swann, George Ellis Swann, Elmer Swann, Roy C. Swann, Jr., and Ocie Lee Swann.

Survivors include two daughters, Glenda Emmons and husband, Larry, of Bethalto, Ill., and Joan Sissom and husband, John, of Jefferson City, Mo.; one daughter-in-law, Kathy Orick of St. Louis; one sister, Louise Tolbert of Malden, eight grandchildren, Tia Gilliam of Hamilton, Mo., David Garron of Ark., Jimmy Emmons of Lexington, Ky., Johnny Sissom of Jefferson City, Mo., Carole Wooten of Maryland Heights, Mo., Kelly Jimenez of Columbia, Mo., Debbie Swiney of St. Louis and Christopher Emmons of Portland, Ore., and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Sunday, January 20, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. Funeral services were conducted Monday, January 21, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Richard Blagg officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden. Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements.
