SENATH, Mo. - The Senath-Hornersville Lions varsity girls basketball team improved to 4-2 in Bootheel Conference regular-season play Monday night with a 67-57 win against Hayti.
The Lions never trailed Hayti.
Senath-Hornersville led 23-19 after the first quarter, 37-29 at halftime and 49-44 at the end of the third quarter.
"I knew they would be very physically and they've been playing really well," Senath-Hornersville coach Jamie Johnson said of Hayti. "We really had to make some adjustments to our interior defense and be able to stop Rodgers from penetrating. Our defense did a great job and our offense did a good job breaking their press. It was a good Bootheel Conference win."
Rachel Tom paced the Lions with 27 points. Taylor Clifton scored 17 points for Senath-Hornersville. Tori Brown added 11 points, Briana Kempf calculated 10 points and Allison Hoffman tallied two points for the Lions.
Greniqua Rodgers and Dyamon Tipler led Hayti with 15 points each. Bobbie Luster scored 10 points for Hayti.
Hayti (4-7) drops to 3-4 in Bootheel Conference regular-season play with the loss.
Senath-Hornersville returns to action Thursday when it plays at Portageville. Hayti will host Neelyville today.
