United Way reaches 90 percent of goal

The local chapter of the United Way recently celebrated reaching 90 percent of its $50,000 goal for this campaign season by updating the United Way campaign thermometer at the Dunklin County Courthouse. Pictured are Libby Mobley, president, on ladder, Susan Luce, left, and Paula Calhoun, right. Thirteen local organizations that are helped through the community's generous donations include Helping Hand, D.A.R.E., Kennett Backpack Program, CASA of Dunklin County, Dunklin Day Care Activity Center, Dunklin County Caring Council (ICARE Program which is the Individual Cancer Assistance Relief Effort), Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Migrant Whole Health Outreach INC (MWHO), Southeast Missouri Area Agency on Aging/Kennett Senior Center, Salvation Army, American Red Cross, and the Family Counseling Center.
