The jayvee was led by Caleb Ellenburg with 31 points, Trammel with nine, and Matt Vernon with eight.
The varsity game was a real donnybrook, with the two teams swapping the lead until the buzzer, when the game went into the books as a 54-53 win for Dexter.
The Mules' David Baker pounded in 22 points by connecting on four free throws and nine two-pointers. B.J. Jennings hit a trey, three deuces, and an ace for ten points. Landon Woods, Troy Kirkpatrick, and J.R. Pregel amassed five points apiece with Woods combining a two and a three; Kirkpatrick hitting two from the line and one from the backyard; and Pregel putting in five bonus shots. Jake Wagner and Bubby Schwent added three points each.
"Tough loss. Dexter outplayed and out-competed us for about 3 quarters. They were the tougher team tonight and did the things down the stretch better than we did. They did a good job of making us shoot the ball from the outside and we didn't convert our opportunities. Until we get better guard play and more consistent shooting, we are going to continue to struggle. Dexter was the better team tonight, and we are going to have to work hard to get better."
The jayvee Mules improved to 12-1 with their win and the varsity fell to 12-3. They will travel to Puxico this Friday to face the Indians.
