A local man has been scheduled to appear before the court, Jan. 15, 2313 at approximately 9 a.m., on drug charges.
Torrance Reed, 26, was arrested following an incident that occurred Dec. 7, 2012, when the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), along with the Kennett Police Department's Strategic Response Team (SRT) served a search warrant on the said day, to a residence known for drug activity.
According to the Kennett Police Department, Officers conducted surveillance at the residence of 1928 Dunklin Street, in Kennett, prior to the service and were able to locate the suspect, Reed, driving his vehicle on Independence Avenue, in Kennett.
Officers conducted a traffic stop and apprehended Reed without incident.
During the traffic stop, the SRT along with Agents of the ATF, entered and secured the residence on Dunklin Street, where officers proceeded to search and locate an undisclosed amount of Cocaine, Marijuana, and prescription pills. During the search, officers also located drug paraphernalia, a firearm and several rounds of ammunition.
Reed is being charged with two counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute. The weapon and rounds ammunition was seized by the ATF for possible federal charges.
He is being held at the Dunklin County jail on a $500,000 cash only bond. Reed appeared in court for his initial appearance Dec. 11.
The other suspect in the case is Brittany Scott, 26 also of Kennett, who at the time of Reed's arrest was unable to be located, was captured on Dec. 11 and later posted her bond that was set at $30,000 with a ten percent surety, on Dec. 27, through a bail bondsman.
Scott is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 1, 2013 for a hearing. She is also being charged with two counts of Possession with the Intent to Distribute.
