Sam Sherrod, Jr., 62, of Clarkton died Friday, December 14, 2012, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. A Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a member of DAV-Show Me Chapter #21 and American Legion-Poplar Bluff. He was affiliated with New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
Born May 5, 1950, in Itta Bena, Miss., he was the son of the late Sam Sherrod, Sr. and Ella Thomas Sherrod. On November 5, 2004, in Piggott, he was united in marriage to Jacqueline Peel, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are his mother, Ella Sherrod of Malden; seven sons, Mike Chandler of St. Paul, Minn., Malcomb Chandler of U.S. Army, Texas, Sam Sherrod III of Joplin, Mo., Edmond Sherrod of Springfield, Mo., Larry Wallace of East St. Louis, Ill., Dominic Sherrod of Springfield, Mo., and Jade Peel of Clarkton; four daughters, Lori Hill of Kennett, Latonya Holmes of West Memphis, Tenn., Jada Sherrod of Clarkton and Janae Sherrod of Clarkton; three brothers, J.C. Sherrod of Malden, Isaiah Sherrod of West Helena, Ark., and Clarence Sherrod of Malden; four sisters, Ella Jane Butler of Kennett, Deloris Holloway of West Helena, Ark., Linda Taylor of West Memphis, Ark., and Annie Williams of Malden, 17 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 21, at Bradshaw Funeral Home in Malden. Funeral services will follow immediately in the funeral chapel with Rev. Gene Perkins officiating. Burial with Military Rites will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield. Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden was in charge of arrangements.
