Susan Laverne Foster Darby of Malden, went to be with the Lord on December 22, 2012 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis after a three year battle with ALS. She was born on May 28, 1950 in St. Louis.

Susan was the loving wife of Jerry for over 41 years. They were married on August 21, 1971 in Poplar Bluff. She was 62 years of age having taught school for 31 years, 26 of which in Malden. Susan loved life, and her family made frequent trips to Disney World where she loved being a "kid". She was a wonderful mother to a son, Jason and a daughter, Michelle. Susan ministered with her husband, Jerry in many local Southern Baptist Churches. She was an active basketball fan, and she could always be counted on to root for her Green Wave. One of her sorrows was that she wasn't going to get to watch her grandson, Jeremiah, grow into a soccer superstar, or her granddaughter, Lexie, into a beautiful young lady.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., Wednesday, December 26 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Malden.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 27, at the First Southern Baptist Church in Malden with Reverend Steve Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Elder Cemetery in Campbell. Arrangements are by Landess Funeral Home in Malden.

Susan is preceded in death by her father, Earl Foster.

Those who will miss her include husband, Jerry of Malden, daughter Michelle and son-in-law, Scott Heck of Columbia, Missouri, son Jason and daughter-in-law, Amanda along with grandchildren, Jeremiah and Lexie of Spring Hill, Tennessee, mother Jeanne Llaunis Foster of Poplar Bluff, and sister, Kathy and brother-in-law Bob Reich of St. Louis, and many friends.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be given to the Susan Darby Scholarship Fund at the First National Bank in Malden, Mo.
