Hayti boys basketball team rallies in second half to beat South Pemiscot 53-47

STEELE, Mo. - The Hayti Indians varsity boys basketball team overcame a 26-17 halftime deficit to beat the South Pemiscot Bulldogs 53-47 Tuesday night.

The Indians outscored the Bulldogs 24-10 in the final eight minutes of regulation.

Hayti shot 38 percent from the field and South Pemiscot had a 35 percent field goal percentage.

Maurion Newbill led the way for the Indians in the scoring column with 18 points. He shot 64 percent (7 for 11) from the field. Frankie Burden Junior added 11 points for Hayti.

South Pemiscot's Anthony Primer and Seth Harris scored 10 points each.

South Pemiscot (3-2) will play at East Prairie in a non-conference game Friday.

Hayti (2-2) will host Bootheel Conference rival Portageville (1-0) Friday.
