KENNETT, Mo. - The Kennett Indians junior varsity boys basketball team is off to 1-2 start to the season.

Kennett played three games this week at the round robin Kennett Invitational junior varsity basketball tournament.

Kennett suffered a 63-52 loss to Dyer County, Tenn., in its season-opener Monday. Malik Wallace paced Kennett with 17 points and four rebounds. Andre Oliver had 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Indians. Carlos Turner added seven points and three rebounds for Kennett against Dyer County.

Greene County Tech, Ark., beat Kennett 52-37 Wednesday night. Turner had 12 points and six rebounds. Wallace tallied 10 points and five rebounds.

Kennett beat New Madrid County Central 49-44 Thursday night in its final game at the 4-team tournament. Oliver tallied 10 points and seven rebounds. Wallace added 10 points and six rebounds.

Turner and Landon Vaughan both scored nine points against New Madrid County Central.

The Kennett junior varsity basketball team is back in action Tuesday at 6 p.m. when it hosts Caruthersville.


KENNETT, Mo. - The Kennett middle school boys basketball program collected a sweep against Portageville Thursday night.

Kennett won the seventh grade game against Portageville 51-27 and beat Portageville 37-14 in the eighth grade contest.

Kennett concludes its season next week when it competes in the seventh and eighth grade Bootheel Conference Tournaments at Portageville.
