Liberty Utilities of Malden recently made a $500 donation to ICARE, Individual Cancer Assistance Relief Effort, a program which provides direct assistance to individual cancer patients with financial needs, filling "a gap left open by other cancer support organizations."

Volunteers with ICARE are people who have been touched personally by cancer, either as a victim, as a family member, or as a friend of someone who has fought the battle against cancer. Dunklin County citizens are at the heart of the organization's initiative. They offer assistance with transportation expenses, nutritional supplements, medical supplies, prescription expenses, and financial aid to support activities of daily living.

Liberty Utilities was the first place winner of the chili cook-off competition during Malden's Hot Chili-Cool Cars held in October. All proceeds from their winnings were donated to ICARE.
