The Wagster family farm has been named as a Missouri Century Farm.

In order to be recognized as a Missouri Century Farm, the same family must have owned the farm for 100 consecutive years, the farm must be at least 40 acres of the original land acquisition and make a financial contribution to the overall farm income.

The Wagster Family Farm meets all of these standards. The original family owner was Dave Wagster. His son John J. Wagster then acquired the land and passed it on to his four children, Frances, J.D., Rhoda, and Mary Ann.

All four of the children were born and raised on the farm just southeast of Malden. Three graduated from Malden High School and their adult residences have been within seven miles of the homestead.

J.D. Wagster, Rhoda Wagster Launius, Mary Ann Wagster Stratman and Sandra Skidmore (daughter of Frances) are the current family owners.

Certificates and a farm sign were given to the family. The program is sponsored by the Missouri Farm Bureau, the University of Missouri Extension and the University of Missouri College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources.

Congratulations to the Wagster family! Iris was a lovely woman who is missed by all who knew her. J.D. is a real gentleman who is loved by all.
