Friday night gunfire sends one to hospital, another behind bars

According to the Dunklin County Sheriff, Bob Holder, at approximately 8 p.m., Friday, November 9, 2012, Dunklin County Deputies were dispatched to a property North of Kennett, better known as the Windmill.

Following an investigation, it was revealed that the suspect, 23-year-old Timmy Lynn Burns Jr., of Hornersville, Mo., shot the victim, 22-year-old Deray Lee Muntz, of the Cardwell, Mo., Hornersville area in the left upper chest area.

The shooting occurred on Dunklin County Road 434, where the two individuals were involved in an altercation resulting in the shooting. Several witnesses, in the vehicle with Muntz and Burns, gave statements to officers in regards to the incident.

Muntz received medical attention at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett and was later released. The Dunklin County Prosecutor's Office has charged Burns with first degree armed criminal action and felon in possession of a firearm.

Burns has been placed on a $100,000 cash only bond and is scheduled to appear in the Dunklin County Circuit Court today, Tuesday, November 13, 2012.

The Dunklin County Sheriff's Office along with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Missouri Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control and the Kennett Police Department investigated the shooting.
