Ricky Dean McCormick, 62, was born April 1, 1950. He passed away Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012.
Rick touched many lives, was loved by all, and never met a stranger. He was a military veteran, serving during the Vietnam conflict. Rick loved his family, friends and country, serving a two year term in the Army. When arriving back from Vietnam, he opened an insurance agency with his father, Barney McCormick. He was a postal carrier for 16 years, sustaining a large fan base with his sarcastic humor and thoughtful endeavors. Passed down from many generations of his family, he became an accomplished cook, feeding most of the county in one way or another as owner of McCormick's Steak House, the cafeteria at Nucor Yamato Steel Company, and manager of the Kennett Country Club. He was a member of the VFW, and a former member of the Kennett Jaycee's. Rick was among the first group to be selected as an ambassador for Kennett. His greatest joy was his family. He adored his daughters and his grandchildren. He was also a very serious lover of canines, with Chance, his yellow lab, as a constant companion.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Sue McCormick; two uncles, Junior McCormick and Tom Foster; his grandparents, Alfred Lee "Tutor" and Myrtle Bell McCormick, and Bill Foster and Mildred Foster, and one niece, Briah Dawn McCormick.
His surviving kin include his three daughters, Heather McCormick, of Kennett, Autumn Edwards, of Abilene, Texas and Paige McCormick, of Kennett. He had one son-in-law, Stephen Edwards, of Abilene. His brothers include Billy Don McCormick, of Columbia, Mo., Joey McCormick, of Burnet, Texas, and Scott McCormick, of Gideon, Mo. He had one sister, Jeris McCormick, of Kennett. He had three grandchildren, Samantha Edwards, Logan McCormick and Koby Edwards. He leaves behind two nephews, Foster and Christian McCormick; four nieces, Nicki Rhew, Lauren McCormick, Hannah Smith and Gracie Sue McCormick; two uncles, Bill Foster and Jerry "Pokey" McCormick, step-mother, Joyce Ann McCormick, and numerous other family members.
