William Delbert Hawkins, son of the late Jessie Marion Hawkins and Essie L. Johnson Hawkins, was born July 5, 1924, at Friendship, Mo., and departed this life Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at the age of 88.
On Dec. 22, 1947, in Piggott, Ark., he married Ruth Campbell.
Mr. Hawkins served as a Delta Children's Home Board Member, Holcomb School Board member and served as President of the Holcomb School Board. He was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Kennett.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Hawkins, of Kennett; two daughters, Rita Mauldin, of Kennett, and Kathy Pigmon and husband, Douglas, of Holcomb, Mo.; four grandchildren, Bruce Dye and wife, Lisa, of Campbell, Mo., Brett Dye, of St. Louis, Mo., Brandi Lewis of Holcomb, and Nikki Cato and husband, Derek, of Piggott, Ark.; four great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Stephanie Dye, both of Paragould, Ark., Christian Lewis, of Holcomb, and Kallie Cato, of Piggott; one sister, Eunice McCain and husband, T.E., of Kennett, and other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Euford Hawkins.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 20, at McDaniel Funeral Service in Kennett.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 20, at McDaniel Chapel in Kennett with Rev. Chris Maynard officiating.
Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers will be Bob Crawford, Lanny Watson, Bud Miller, Louis Scoggins, Jerry Smallmon and Glen Earle Harris.
