Aaron B. Ward "A.B.", of Aurora, Mo., formerly of Kennett, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at the age of 92.

He was the son of the late Aaron B Ward, Sr. and Nora Merritt Ward, born Oct. 3, 1920, in Portageville, Mo.

He married Maxine Gramling on Jan. 19, 1946, in Piggott, Ark.

A.B. is survived by his wife, Maxine, of 66 years; two children, Dennis Michael Ward and wife, Janet, of Camdenton, Mo., and Elizabeth Anne Mattingly, of Aurora. He leaves behind four grandchildren, Christopher Ward and wife, Lindy, of Kensington, N.H., Katie Gordon and husband, Tim, of Columbia, Mo., Aaron Mattingly, of Littleton, Colo., and Eric Mattingly, of Springfield, Mo., and one great-granddaughter, Shelby Jo Ward. A.B. is survived also by one sister, Ruth Jones and one brother, George Ward, both of Portageville.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Aaron was a veteran of WWII, and was employed by the Department of Defense at Blytheville Air Force Base, retiring in 1982.

He and Maxine lived in Kennett until 1997, and then moved and made their home in Aurora to be near their children. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church until 1997 and then joined First Baptist Church of Aurora where he was active until his death.

Anyone who knew A.B. would know his love of music. He played with the Memory Makers in Kennett for many years and continued that love of music when he moved to Aurora. He enjoyed playing at nursing homes and senior citizen functions. His talent will be missed.

Services will be held at McDaniel Funeral Home of Kennett with visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, and funeral services at 11 a.m., with Rev. Sam Stewart officiating.

Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens of Kennett.
