POTOSI, Mo. - Kennett's Anna Kay Hilburn and Darby Sparks advanced to the state tournament in doubles with a 6-4, 6-3, win against North County's Miranda Maeys and Cheyenne Anderson Tuesday afternoon.
Hilburn and Sparks will play in the Round of 16 at the state tournament in Springfield next week.
No additional information was available at press deadline.
Kennett also remains in contention to qualify for the state final four in the team competition.
Kennett (17-1) will take on North County (11-2) in a Class 1 state sectional Saturday at 1 p.m. Lutheran South (10-7) will play Crossroads College Preparatory (5-8) in the other Class 1 state sectional Saturday at 10 a.m.
The winner of the Kennett-North County match will play the winner of the Crossroads College Preparatory-Lutheran South match Saturday afternoon in the state quarterfinals at approximately 5 p.m.. The winner of the state quarterfinal match will advance to the state final four in Springfield, Mo.
Saturday's state sectional and quarterfinal games will take place at Steel Shop Tennis Club in St. Charles, Mo.
Lutheran South beat Kennett 5-4 in a Class 1 state quarterfinal contest in 2011 and defeated Kennett 5-1 in a Class 1 state sectional game in 2010.
