Nicoleta Andreea (Andy) Bollinger, volunteer with the Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child, will be speaking to the public at the Caruthersville Public Library on Sunday, October 14, 2012, at 2 p.m., regarding Operation Christmas Child.
Andy, a resident of Jackson, Mo., the hometown of her husband, Levi, grew up in Communist Romania.
Bollinger first received an Operation Christmas Child shoebox when she was approximately 9-years-old. She remembers, before receiving the shoebox a few times when the only gifts her parents were able to give her for Christmas were an orange and a few pieces of candy.
"What I remember about my shoebox," said Bollinger, "is the beautiful wrapping paper, the 'My Little Pony' journal (with a key and a lock!), the teddy bear, the construction paper and glitter pens, and the fact that I did not want anybody to carry it back home from the church on the cold Christmas day."
The Samaritan's Purse is an international Christian relief and evangelism organization headed by Franklin Graham, the eldest son of Dr. Billy Graham. The non-profit organization specializes in meeting the critical needs of victims of war, poverty, disease, and natural disaster, in order to demonstrate God's love and earn a hearing for the Gospel. Operation Christmas Child is a world wide children's project of Samaritan's Purse that collects gift-filled shoeboxes and delivers them in the name of Jesus Christ to children living in desperate situations. Everyone is invited to come and hear "Andy's" testimony of how Operation Christmas Child impacted her life.
