MALDEN, Mo. -- If you like your chili hot and your cars cool, then there is no better place for you to be on Saturday, October 20 than in downtown Malden, Missouri for the annual "Hot Chili-Cool Cars" celebration.
The Malden Chamber of Commerce, along with Director Brenda Williams extends an invitation for a day full of fun occasions and good food.
Along with a car show and a chili cook-off, other exhibits will be displayed beginning at 9 a.m. Madison and Main Streets will be full of cars, tractors, motor cycles, arts and craft, food and merchandise vendors, games and music.
Anyone wishing to participate in taste testing and voting in the chili cook-off can purchase a bowl and a ballot.
Teams interested in joining the chili cook-off should contact Brenda Williams at the Malden Chamber of Commerce at 276-4519. Cash prizes will be awarded to winning teams.
Bands interested in entertaining throughout the day should also contact the Chamber office.
Chamber Director Brenda Williams encourages everyone to "Get a team together and show off that great recipe. If you have not entered yet, now is the time to do so. The more teams we have the better. We are looking forward to a great event filled with fun for all. Let's fill the air with the aroma of chili."
Hot Chili-Cool Cars tee shirts will be available for purchase.

In addition to those events, the Delta News-Citizen is proud to announce that it will once again be hosting an amateur photography contest during this year's Hot Chili-Cool Cars. 4" x 6" photographs provided by any amateur (must be non-paid) photographer which is brought in to the Delta News Citizen office by the deadline of Wednesday, October 17 will be eligible for the competition. Categories include 1: Funny Photo, 2: Still Life, and 3: Portraiture. Winners will be displayed in the front window of the Delta News Citizen office on the morning of Hot Chili-Cool Cars, Oct. 20, 2012 and prizes will be awarded following that date. Photographer's name and contact information must be provided on the back of the picture. Photos not picked up within one month of completion of the competition may be disposed of. As many as three pictures can be entered in each category. Category 1: Funny Photo, can consist of living beings or inanimate objects. Category 2: Still Life, can be any inanimate subject. Category 3: Portraiture, should be a picture that includes an actual person. Any obvious editing, "photo-shopping", or color transformation will result in disqualification. Photographs will be judged on artistic merit alone. Photographs should be presentable for public display and should not include any form of nudity. There is no fee to enter the contest.
