Patrick Matthews ran a personal record 19:13 for overall first place and first place male. Laura Peper ran away with first place female.
In the 4-19 year old female category, Elizabeth Blume finished first, followed by Hannah Wilson and Brenda Flannigan. The aforementioned Patrick Matthews took first in the 4-19 year old male category as well as his overall win. Travis Collins earned second in that age group.
The female 20-29 age group was led by Holly Harper. Megan Weirich, who won first in the category last year, finished second this year, seven weeks after giving birth to a healthy, happy baby boy. That's dedication to the sport, folks. Candi Matthews got third in the age group. Candi's husband, James "JB" Matthews earned first in the male 20-29 category, followed by James "Jimmy" DeBerry, and Andy Matthews.
Overall female champ, Laura Peper, also won the female 30-39 age group, followed by Kelly Wilis and Leah Williams. David Peper won the male 30-39 age category, with Michael Harris taking second, and Nick Thompson finishing third.
Belinda Faltys took first in the women's 40-49 grouping, with Lynn Averett and Jeanie Collins getting second and third. Penny Loughary dominated the ladies' 50-59 category. Adam Jolly recorded a first place finish in the men's 50-59 bracket, followed by Gerald Jackson and Wayne Shelton.
Several wonderful prizes were awarded to some of those who purchased chances, with proceeds from them going to benefit the Chris Lister foundation. The foundation was set up to help Chris, a young man who was struck by a car during a run in St. Louis at the beginning of this year and is still in a coma.
Proceeds from entry fees will go to benefit women in our community in multiple ways.
