According to Senath-Hornersville Superintendent Larry Wood, the HVAC unites were installed Thursday, September 27, by Dave's Heating and Cooling.
The total cost to the district was $167,290, which included labor.
"I have been here since 2006, and they have been talking about it since then," Wood said in reference to how long the district has considered installing HVAC units at the gymnasium.
Wood said the community had the opportunity to utilize the new heating and cooling system last Thursday evening at a volleyball game held in the gymnasium, with everyone seeming "tickled to death over it."
Wood went on to say, "I think it's great. I think it's been well deserved and I think the kids will really enjoy it in September and August when it's so hot."
The unit will also replace the boiler system, used to heat the gym since it was built in the early 1960's
"It's going to be much more efficient," Wood said.
