HOLCOMB, Mo. - The Holcomb varsity volleyball team outlasted Bell City in a 3-set thriller Friday night.

Holcomb won the first set 25-13, dropped the second set 24-26 and won the decisive set 25-19.

"For the first time in a long time our girls were the most excited team on the court, the most confident team on the court and the most determined team on the court," Holcomb coach Zach McDaniel said. "We've had a below par season so far, but our girls came out and played their hearts out, had fun and didn't care what the scoreboard said until the end.

"Bell City is a very good team with a winning tradition," he continued. "They're athletic and extremely smart. We had to earn every point we got from them. We're getting closer to meeting our potential as a team."

Holcomb is back in action Monday when it travels to South Pemiscot.
