Helen D. Christy, daughter of the late Freddy Marchbanks and Nillie Lowe Marchbanks, was born July 12, 1930, in Silverdale, Mo., and departed this life Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett, at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 9 days.
She was a member of Ely Baptist Church in Kennett.
Helen married Donald Christy on April 1, 1956, in Hernando, Miss.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Christy, of Kennett; two sons, Duane Sullivan and wife, Judith, of Kennett, and Ricky Christy and wife, Sara, of St. Louis, Mo.; two daughters, Vicki McDowell and husband, Tony, of Marmaduke, Ark., and Karen Battista and husband, Robert, of Boca Raton, Fla.; six grandchildren, Nicki McDowell, Tonya Drope, Kevin Sullivan, Brett Sullivan, Caitlin Christy and Rhiannon Christy; 14 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Charles Marchbanks, of Illinois, Everett Marchbanks and wife, Elma Jean, of Missouri, and Harvey Marchbanks and wife, Helen, of Missouri; one sister, Margie Allred and husband, Wayne, of Tennessee, and other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Curtis Marchbanks and two sisters, Maxine Garrett and Louise Waller.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 24, at McDaniel Chapel in Kennett with Revs. Jim Collins and Kevin Sullivan officiating.
Burial was in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Kennett.
Pallbearers were Dustin Sullivan, Brett Sullivan, Zackary McDowell, Colby Drope, Dale Drope and Robert Battista.
